As Promised -aka- Thankful 2.0

I just have a quick little post today.  I promised to share with you the revised, rethunk, redone Thankful frame.  So, here it is:

 

Honestly, I think I like it better.  And, look at the cute little designer paper pumpkins that I made to go along with it.  This has got my thinking about a whole set of Thanksgiving table decor.  So, because organizing a dinner for my whole family will not keep me busy enough (e-sarcasm), I have decided to add some other stuff to the To Do list.

I am off to craft (and do laundry and dusting, and floor washing, and menu planning)

Still Thankful

Hello again!

I have a funny little story to share.  Not 10 minutes after I took the pictures for the previous post, I went to my computer to update my blog about how thankful I am.  Just as I finished hitting the "publish post" button I heard a big crash from upstairs.  I went running up to see that one of my Thanksgiving frames had slipped off the display and the glass broke into a bunch of tiny little shards.

I know what you are thinking . . ."How is that funny?"  Well, truthfully, it really isn't.  But, after a few days of mourning, and a few more days of avoiding, and several more days of cutting for our World Card Day, I decided I was thankful again.

I am thankful to have the opportunity to make another project, without having to start completely fresh, and have it be very different from the previous one.  So, while the glue dries on that, I want to share a couple other things I am thankful for.

I am especially thankful to have such a great group of stamping friends.  Each and every one of the ladies I spent Saturday with made my day wonderful.  I am blessed to have Lisa as an upline, and Heather and Tara as sidelines.  I couldn't have imagined that when I started as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, that I would find such a caring and supportive group, but there they were, and have continued to be so supportive and welcoming.  So, thank you so much ladies, for being wonderful, caring, and completely you!

Here is the recipe for the fantastic Pumpkin Dip that Lisa referred to in her blog.

1 block cream cheese

1 cup pumpkin puree

1/2 - 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

1 jar marshmallow fluff

1 large tub Cool Whip.

Cream together cream cheese and pumpkin until smooth.  Add spice and jar of marshmallow fluff, stirring until mixed completely.  Add you tub of thawed Cool Whip.  The texture will change from smooth and creamy, to fluffy and almost like a mousse.  Serve with ginger snaps, cinnamon cookies, graham cracker, apple slices, or just straight off the spoon.  YUM!!!

I am also thankful for this dip.

Thankful

Good afternoon!  I have a lot to be thankful for, but like everyone, I need reminding sometimes.  I made these pretty framed home decor items and I love them.  I plan to give one as a gift to my mother.

 

Aren't they nice?  The saying is a decor element applied directly to the glass, so I can change the paper insert and stay thankful all year long!  That paper in these ones is from the Autumn Spice package in the Holiday Mini catalog.  All of the patterns are fantastic.  It is a textured cover weight paper so it is sturdy enough for lots of different applications and projects.  I also used the new Tasteful Trim die and my Big Shot (love it!) to make the scallop border.

Play Dates To Remember

Good afternoon friends!

Today I have a calendar to share with you.  I like the More Time Mom calendars, but find them so big (and often not very cute).  So, I decided to make one using Stampin' Up! products that I love.    (Hey, look!  It matches my blog!)

I love this.  I used The Days-To-Remember Calendar, Play Date Designer Series Paper, and Play Date Quick Accent adhesive die-cuts.  The die cuts come with so many pieces that I will be marking important dates with them throughout the year.  Rather than scrapbooking on the left side, I printed out a table of the dates in the moth so that I can expand on notes that I make on the calendar side.  There are also more than enough accents and designer papers left to make some other great projects to help keep me organized.

 

Cute, right?  I just covered a glass votive holder with my favorite paper from the Play Date DSP pack, tied it with a bit of Old Olive satin ribbon and hung a few coordinating punched mini tags.  The notebook cover is something that I made with my friend and fellow demonstrator Lisa .  I love having something cute to put my notepads in . . . it makes having list so much more fun.  This one is for things that my kids let me know that they need for school.

Anyway, the Fed-Ex guy just delivered a new box of goodies.  Something that I need for another project with the Play Date sets is in there.  Stay tuned!

Blue Christmas?

Hello!

So, I was at Costco the other day and lo and behold they had Christmas stuff out already.  Yep!  Christmas stuff!  Right there in the same aisle as the back to school supplies and Halloween costumes.  I thought to myself, "Well, if they can . . . so can I!"  So, I have a couple of really cute (albeit very early) Christmas home decor items to show you.

Very pretty, right?  I stamped this the inserts for the tray using the Serene Snowflakes stamp set, and Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue inks, and Platinum Shimmer paint.  I accented the Whisper White cardstock with the beautiful new adhesive backed rhinestones.  Here is a closer look.

It is hard to capture the beauty and shimmer in photos, but believe me, in person, this is fantastic!

The second part I wanted to show you is this pretty candy bowl.

Please ignore the kids fingerprints.  Those show up perfect in a photograph . . . of course.  This project is so simple, but makes a really nice, quick home decor idea.  I took a simple glass rose bowl and used some of the Flurry Decor Elements to decorate it.  I took trimmed the bigger ones (cut in half actually) and then just applied them to the bowl.  You could easily get three of these size bowls out of one package.  Makes a perfect little last minute gift for a friend.

Anyway, that is my early Christmas gift to you.  Ho Ho Hope you like it.  (I know, horrible).

New Math

So, I believe I said something about a math lesson.

It's Effin' Science!

Newton's First Law:

• An object that is at rest will stay at rest unless an unbalanced force acts upon it.
• An object that is in motion will not change its velocity unless an unbalanced force acts upon it.

So, let's imagine that the "object" in question is me.  And, let's call the "unbalanced force" my kids.  Does that help to explain why I haven't been here for a while?

Honestly, I have no real excuse, but, I am determined to set a forward motion and keep with it.

I do have some really cute projects that I am working on that I hope to share with you this week.  I know you are going to like them too.


Who knows, maybe tomorrow we will have a math lesson.
