A Tisket, A Tasket . . .

 . . .a little Easter basket

I love this little basket and card.  They have been sitting on my shelf for a month waiting to be shown off.  I used the Baskets & Bloom s die (#113484O) to cut out the base of this basket, the Perfect Details texture plate (#115962) and the Big Shot (use it everyday!) to make the pieces for this great little treat basket.  A little Sticky Strip (#104294) and the fantastic Scallop Trim Border punch |(#118402 Sale-A-Bration) and you have a great way to give (or store) some little treats.  For this cute little card I sponged several colors from the Soft Subtles family on some whisper white cardstock  Then I punch it out using the Wide Oval punch (#112082), drew some cracks on it with the 2-Way Glue Pen (#100425) and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter (#102023).  I nestled the egg behind some certainly celery "grass" on Kraft cardstock and used the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes (#115370).

Pretty Punched Flowers

I promised you more of the punched flowers I made for my demonstration and here they are:

This pretty little Calla Lily is made using the Full Heart punch (item #113693).  It was so simple, but I think that the end product is a definite WOW!


This next one is also super simple and makes a versatile embellishment.

This flower is basically the same as the felt flower pins from this post.  I used the Flower Layers (#113458) and my Big Shot (love it!) to cut out the flowers.  The ribbon is replaced by by a strip of whisper white cardstock that was punched with the Eyelet Border punch (#113692) and then ran through my crimper several times to soften the fibers.  Very pretty and very versatile.

Now, I have one or two more punch flower projects to show you, but that will have to wait until next time.

Seriously, WHAT?!!!!

So, I guess I was bragging a little too much last week about how nice the weather was.  It snowed yesterday.  Snowed!  Yuck.

So, I decided it was a good night for homemade chili

So YUM!  Want to make it for yourself?  Here's how.



1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 28 oz can diced tomato
1 can sliced mushrooms (fresh is nicer)
1 can or about 1 cup of corn
2 cans pork and beans (my mom always made it with 1 can kidney beans (yuck) and 1 can pork and beans)
1 can condensed tomato soup
2-4 (or more) T. chili powder
1/2 of a beer.

Grated cheese, and crumbled tortilla chips for toppings.

Brown the ground beef in a large stock pot or dutch oven.  Drink half a beer while you wait  Add all the canned ingredients and the remaining beer, that you did not drink..  Start with the smaller amount of chili powder and work your way up to taste.  Simmer for as long as you and your family can wait.  Top with tortilla and grated cheese and dig in.  This is seriously one of my families favorite dishes.  I have made it with ground pork and also ground turkey for healthier choices, and they are all fantastic.  I have even put a shot or two of tequila in for a real south of the border taste.

Fresh air and Sunshine - WAHOOOOOO!

It is starting to be nice on a regular basis.  Yesterday it reached 20 degrees (Celsius)!  Isn't that awesome?!  I opened windows and smiled a lot.

This month I demonstrated several ways to make paper flowers and I wanted to share some of the pictures with you.  These first two were done with the Extra Large Two Step Bird punch (117191 $22.95). 

But before I show you the punch used to make flowers, I want to show you some very beautiful ways to use it as a bird.

Gorgeous for sure, but now, for the flowers.

Pretty cute, right?  I love finding new ways to use old favorites.  Ok, so the Bird punch is not really that old, but I have been using it so much that it feels like it has always been there.

Totally Tess

My daughter was invited to a birthday this last weekend and I sat down to make a card for the young lady.  Charlotte told me Kyra's favorite colors and we started to create from there.  I was going to create a bear from my Build a Bear die and Big Shot, but Charlotte has been wanting me to use Totally Tess for something so she chose that set instead.  After all the instruction and suggestions (demands), this is what I ended up with.

 I think that it turned out really nice.  It seems like such a mature card (for an 8 year old), but I just did what I was told.  I can tell, as pretty as this card is, I do NOT like the idea of my little girl trying to grow up.  How dare she!
 Anyway, I love using Stampin Up's watercolor paper for these kind of projects.  I simply stamped the image with black Staz-On and then colored in with with the ink and the aqua painter.  Super easy, and beautiful.

Swap Peek #2

Phew!  I finally have all my swaps finished for tomorrow (cutting it a little close) and this next card is super cute!

Don't you just love it?!  I do.  I cannot wait to swap this with as many demos as a I can.  I used the designer series paper from the Sweet Pea stack in the Occasions Mini catalog, the Bigz Flower Clear Die, the Perfect Polka Dots embossing Folder, and the Whimsical Words stamp set to make this card.  It has to be one of my favorite cards I have made recently.  I am loving the spring colors and the faux quilting.

I have a third swap that I will be doing, and I will try and post that later.

Swaps Peek #1

So here are a few of one of the items I am making for swaps at regionals in Calgary

I cannot wait to share these great pins with the other demonstrators in Calgary.  The two in front have some of the old olive satin ribbon from the Occasions Mini catalog sewn onto the back to use as a tie.  The rest have a pin back on them.
