I am INKspired

Well, today the sun is shining and it is 8 degrees.  That is awesome.  I cracked a window to let fresh air in and sat at my craft desk.  The sunlight and the fresh air have helped to inspire me to create this:

The colors I used (Kraft, Night of Navy, Old Olive, and Summer Sun) were part of the Inspired by Ink challenge from my upline Lisa (shout out).  Now that I have made this sunny little flower, I hope Mother Nature gets the hint.

How Do You Solve a Problem Like a Teenager?

Let me just say that I watched Sound of Music last night.  I love that show.  While I was watching, I was thinking, "How do I solve a problem of giving a gift to a teenager?"  They only ever want gift cards.  I have to keep coming up with neat ways to package them.  So, I came up with these.

These two hold the the staples of any gift for any teenager.  The left one will help your teenager to ignore you . . .it holds an iTunes card.  The one on the right gets them out of the house and off your couch (for a least a couple of hours)  . . .it holds a movie card.  Pretty clever, huh?
Next weekend I am heading to Calgary to attend Stampin Up!'s regional convention.  I am so excited and have thought of a few nice projects to swap with other demonstrators there.  Watch in the next few days for sneak peeks of my swaps.

Scrap Happy

So, last winter Flat Stanley came all the way from South Carolina to visit my daughter's class.  We volunteered to have Flat Stanley over one day and decided to show him the snow.  Now, poor Flat Stanley had nothing warm to wear, so I quickly knit him a little hat and scarf.  After he was all dressed they went outside.  It was such a cute memory that I decided to scrapbook it.

Here is the two page spread

Here are pics of each page

I really love the color combination.  Not only do they accent the pictures (which are the most important part of the page), but they compliment each other so well.  Stampin Up's Color Coach is such a useful tool.

New Twist on an Old Fav

Ok, so faux quilting is not really old, but I have done a few of them and love them.  Here is one of the previous one I have done.

I have always made them with the Top Note die and  think it works perfect for it.  Now, however, I wanted to try something a little different.

What do you think?  I really like this.  I used 4 different patterns of designer series paper from the Sweet Pea stack available in the Occasions Mini catalog.  I punched them out with the 1 3/8 square punch and adhered them to a piece of whisper white card stock.  Then, I ran it through the Big Shot with my scallop circle die and cut it in half.  I think that using the polka dot embossing folder and coordinating markers to color the stamp from the Whimsical Words stamp set really adds punch and ties all the elements of the card together.  What I like most is that I can use it like this as a card for a man ion my life, or change the colors and it is perfect for a woman.  I love cards like that!

Valentine Tree

Happy Valentine's Day all!

In my kitchen I have an angled wall that the top half is recessed.  I use this to display my seasonal/holiday tree.  Every season or on special holidays I change the decorations that are on this branch that I cut from my Dad's tree in his backyard.  This is our Valentine offering.  I think it looks great.

You can see in this close up that there are a few different applications of hearts   I used the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and the full heart punch to make some of the decorations.  Closer to the top you can see that I punch out white and red hearts and adhered them to each other alternating colors to create a 3D hanging heart.

This is an updated version of my Love candle.  I used a bit of the Sending Love designer series paper from the Occasions Mini catalog (each page is sparkly and glittery and beautiful), the With All My Heart stamp set, and the pinking hearts border punch to create this romantic candle wrap.  Some othe rpunching, die cutting and glitter really take this to the next level.

And, finally there are these cute little treat boxes.  Both are made using the window sheets and dies with the Big Shot.  The cinnamon hearts are in a cute little Box #2 tied with a length of real red gros grain ribbon.  The message hearts (which there was more of) is in a Pillow Box that I stamped with the hearts from the Love You Much stamp set and tied with some pink ribbon (Pink Pirouette retired).
I love the way this little corner turned out for this holiday.  Every time that I come up the stairs and see this it reminds me of how lucky I am to have so many people that I love and that love me.

Now, quit hanging out here and go and kiss the one that you love.  That is what I am going to do . . . again.

For my Love Bird(s)

I made this little house for one of my little Love Birds (my kids) for on our Valentine tree (post coming soon).

I knew you would love it as much as I do!  I made this using the Big Shot and the new Mini Milk Carton die (from the Occasions Mini  catalog) and then dressed it up like a birdhouse.  What is that beautiful warm glow from inside?  Well, it is a (battery powered) flickering tea light.  Don't have a tea light?  Fill it with chocolate.  Don't have chocolate?  Well then I am sad for you.

I really love this die and am picturing lots of different uses for it.  So, plan on seeing more of it!

Kid's Valentines

Phew!  What a busy week it has been for me.  I had some of Charlotte's friends and their mom's over on Saturday to make some valentines for their classmates.  We made 24 of these each and had so much fun.  The girls all stamped with us for a while, but then they bailed and went to play dress up.  The mom's and I cracked open a bottle of wine, gossiped and finished up the rest of the cards.  We all had such a great time.

Aren't they fun?!  I used my Big Shot and the Two Tags die to cut out the card bases from kraft card stock (great for boys and girls).  Then, we just stamped and  punched and glittered and embellished to our hearts content.  Notice how I have them displayed on the new clear blocks from Stampin' Up?  I seriously LOVE these blocks and stamps.  This is going to be the way that I go with all my purchases from now on.  Not only do they stamp beautifully, and make placement so easy, but they take up so much less space in my craft area.  That is a good thing, because my space keeps getting bigger, and the family room area keeps getting smaller.

BTW - Happy LOSTerday!

All you need is love . . . and chocolate . . . and LOST

Happy LOST day!

I warned you guys ahead of time that I love LOST.  Perhaps you were not aware of exactly how much of a dork I am over this show.  I am a HUGE dork.  It is true, I admit it.  The beautiful thing is, that I am not alone.  Head on over to www.4815162342.com  to see just how many of us there are.  Actually, you probably know at least one mega LOST fan already.  We know we are annoying, we just don't see why you aren't.

On to stamping.

Look at this cute treat box I made to give my hubby (he doesn't watch LOST but I love him anyway).

I used the Petal Card die and the Big Shot to make this cute box.  I filled it with chocolate hug and kisses.  He deserves every single one of them.  But I may take a few first.  It is chocolate after all.
